Natural Pigments

• Brown & Earth Tones (Soil, farmer skin tones, dawn light): From clay, bark, and red ochre

• Green (Crops, trees, earth goddess’s dress): Extracted from leaf paste or neem powder

• Yellow (Sunrise light, offerings): From turmeric or haritala mineral

• White (Sacred markings, eyes, harvest bags): Ground from conch shells

• Red (Borders, ritual fire, floral motifs): From hingula (natural cinnabar)

• Black (Outlines, hair, soil lines): Made from lamp soot or burnt coconut shell

All colors are mixed with tamarind seed gum for smooth application and longevity.

• Handmade using squirrel or mongoose hair, set in bamboo sticks

• Used for:

  • Facial expressions and postures

  • Textured fields, dawn rays, and baskets of grains

  • Ornamental borders and sacred symbols

• Features sacred vines, grain motifs, and symbols of fertility, symbolizing gratitude to nature and the divine feminine.

• Sealed with natural resin or shellac to:
