. Natural Pigments (for Traditional and Modern Contrast)

• Black: From lamp soot or burnt coconut shells—used for outlines and symbolic shading.

• White: Ground from conch shells—for details, body paint, and contrast.

• Red: From hingula—used in ancient tribal scenes (clothing, earth, fire).

• Yellow: Made from haritala or turmeric—for sacred objects and sun motifs.

• Brown/Earth tones: From clay or tree bark—for ancient tools, huts, and forest backgrounds.

• Green and Blue: Derived from plant extracts or indigo—for nature, rivers, and modern uniforms or symbols.

• All pigments are mixed with boiled tamarind gum, which acts as a binder for durability and brightness.

3. Brushes

• Handmade using fine animal hair (such as squirrel or mongoose), attached to bamboo or reed handles.

• Fine brushes are used for intricate patterns, border detailing, and expressions of dual-era figures.

4. Symbolic Dividing Line (Split Concept)

• The canvas is divided visually using contrasting colors, patterns, or a symbolic element (like a tree or path), highlighting the difference and continuity between the two timelines.

5. Framing (Optional)

• Can be bordered with traditional Pattachitra floral and geometric patterns, or framed with natural wood (like Kashadandi or Lashadandi) to keep with the tribal theme.

6. Finishing Touch

• A natural resin or shellac coating may be applied to protect the surface and enhance color vibrancy.
