A tribute to tribes protecting forests and rivers, painted in organic pigments.

Organic Natural Pigments

• Green (for forests and foliage): Extracted from leaf powders or natural chlorophyll-based mixes.

• Blue (for rivers and sky): Derived from indigo leaves.

• Brown/Earth tones (for soil and skin): Made using clay, tree bark, or red ochre.

• Black: Sourced from burnt coconut shells or lamp soot.

• White: Produced by grinding conch shells.

• Yellow and Red: Created using turmeric, haritala (yellow mineral), and hingula (red mineral stone).

• All pigments are mixed with natural tamarind seed gum as a binder to enhance adhesion and longevity.

3. Brushes

• Handmade using animal hair (such as squirrel or mongoose), tied to bamboo sticks.

• These brushes enable fine detailing in foliage, tribal figures, and water textures.

4. Framing – kashadandi Wood

• The painting is elegantly bordered with kashadandi wood sticks, a natural hardwood valued for its texture and strength.

• The wood is cut, sanded, and polished, preserving its organic grain and giving the artwork a grounded, earthy finish.

5. Adhesive (Binder)

• A natural gum prepared from boiled tamarind seeds is used to mix pigments and to prepare the canvas.
